   hey all. im needing a heater. i cant get my new tank above 73*... my good heater is in my current running tank.
   
   
   
   on a side note i do have 2 old stealth heaters. can i just take em into petco or petsmart and get new ones?

   any 250 watt heater should do the trick, even in very cool room conditions. 3 to 5 watts per gallon. IDk what petco/petsmarts replacement policy is going to be like, a lot of retailers require you to deal with the mfg directly for warranty issues. It may be beyond the statue of limitations on warranted issues and the recall. I highly recommend the JBJ stand alone temp controller with any solid titanium heating element. I'm using the JBJ controller with a Finnex 500watt heater. Got 20 sq ft of surface area, keep it 69-70 in the house.

   my tank is in my basement. pretty cold should i shoot for 2 150w so if one fails it wont cook the tank?
