So today I accidently dropped one of my AI Vega's into my tank. Yeah... Not an awesome feeling.

I took it all apart, rinsed the components in RO/DI and then put them in a container with dried rice. In a couple days I'm going to reassemble it and hopefully all will be well. I guess I'm not the first person that this has happened to and the rinse & rice method has worked for others, so hopefully it will work for me too.

If not, I guess I'll see how good AI's customer service is. I think the pucks will still be good no matter what, so I may just need a new controller board.

My daughter dropped my AI controller into my tank. Tried the rice trick instantly but with no luck. Good luck! Hope it works for you.

Did you rinse the components in RO/DI before you put them in the rice to dry? If not, it may still have had salt on the components causing a short.

I had a friend do this with his Sol, and it worked for him. If it is cleaned up well, AI customer service is top notch.

Yes should work JB. Fingers crossed but think it will be good news if you cleaned it well and it dried out well.

Well, I went home over lunch and gave it a try. No luck so back in the rice it all went.

I've also contacted AI to see what they suggest/can do.

If it is trashed how much for the damaged unit?

I'm not selling it. It's likely the control board which can easily be replace.

Was it plugged in when it took the dip?

Yep, I got lucky. The saving grace was probably that it came disconnected from the power cable before it got wet. Had that not happened, things might have turned out differently. I am going to replace the fan just to be safe, but everything is working fine. Just need to remount them both with a little bit longer bolts.
