Are the overflows on the 120g the half-moon plastic overflows? Any idea if they can be removed?

they are the half moon style. they are just siliconed in i believe

Know if the sides are tempered? And are there bulkheads drilled into the bottom? I am really interested in a sump with these dimensions so I'm considering trying to remove the overflows, bulkheads, and patch the bottom with some pieces of glass siliconed over the holes on the bottom.

I believe the bottom is tempered but I don't recall for sure. You may be able to find out on Aqueons web site. I can send some pics of the overflows maybe top down or something. Pretty sure they are just silicones in

They would be siliconed in. You can use a glass plate to cover the holes. Just make sure it's thick enough. I'm doing the same thing on a 165 tank.

Bottom of the aqueon 120's are tempered, sides are not. Overflows are just attached with silicone and can be cut out and removed. I just took a solid, flexible knife and sliced the silicone joints then forced it down between the plastic overflow and the glass and it peeled right out.
Just did it today in fact. Bought a tank that ended up having a slight leak in the bottom seal somewhere. Looked like a past attempt to fix it was unsuccessful so I tore the tank down completely and will just clean it up and rebuild it.
