Advice? Sump suggestions?

I'm contemplating setting up my Marineland 27g cube tank again and this time I was thinking about drilling the sides for an overflow. The problem is I'd really like the sump to go in the stand, but the stand is skinny and tall. I think the dimensions are about 15" x 15" and maybe 15" tall. Any suggestions on what could fit in that? I'm not sure I'd want a custom sump as that may be more $$ than I want to spend on a small tank.

I've been told that a 10 gallon would work if you cut more of a hole in the back. Something to consider but not sure if I want to start cutting things out of the stand.

It'd probably be the end of NEXT year before @Turbo's Aquatics@Turbo's Aquatics has time to make a custom sump

I have one that will fit under a 27 cube stock stand. It was somebody else's build when i purchased it. I just bought a custom built one but this one is still functional. Pm me if interested . image.jpeg image.jpeg
