    Hey all,

Question/Problem?-  I have a good sized anenome that two clowns are hosting.  I'd say it's usually about 8" across.  The last 8 weeks or so it has been very shrunk up in it's rock and is maybe only 2 1/2".  The only thing I think it could be was maybe a week or two before it started being small I changed the lights to some new bulbs.  This was the first time I had changed these lights since it had been in the tank.  Does anyone else have an idea or suggestions?  Or confirm if you agree?

    Hey Paul,

Usually a shrinking nem is a sign that it is consuming itself. I would start target feeding it. Small frozen mysis shrimp would be the best.

    Good luck

Hey Paul, I have a carpet and it does some funny things i have had it for about a year now and one month it will be huge and wide open next couple weeks it will be all closed up and small and it keeps going back and forth, the long tenacle i have hides behind my rock wall and he does awesome and if i try moving him out infront of the wall he gets mad and works his way back to where he was, I wouldnt worry to much about him if all ur levels are right and if hes not running across your tank then i would just leave him be. I have had a couple that died and the way i know they wernt doing well is when i saw them running from one side to the other side of the tank

Couldn't it be getting to much light too, I thought I read that when they shrunk up they were getting to much light or not enough one of the two. Might just be actlimating itself to your lighting. My nem changes often and right now is growing good. I would make sure to feed it regularly and just keep and eye out for it.

    Thanks,

Does anyone else have problems when they spot feed their anenome the mysis shrimp the clowns will burrow in relentlessly and steal it all from it.  Xroads might be on to something there.  I can only stand there so long keeping gaurd, the second I walk away they steal everything.

A Healthy Nem wont have this problem. They will close up around the food so the clowns cant get it.
Paul, What color is the nem and what lights are you running? Also what kind of nem are we talking about?

You can also make a feeding hat out of a 2l pop bottle.

Cut the bottom off, put it over the new without the clowns, drop food in the hole for a bit.

I have had a Purple Tip Sabae for about three years. Is yours brown, Tan or white? How old were the bulbs when you changed them? And what brand bulb are you coming from and have now?
