rodi for $200??

my wife is already tired of the weekly $8 I spend on saltwater. so for fathers day I am getting a rodi unit. does anyone have personal experience with a brand that they would recommend for $200 or under? I am installing it in my utility room so it doesn't have to be an under the sink filter. does it make sense to buy one geared towards the saltwater enthusiast? I only have a 29 gallon but have been bitten by the bug so will most likely get a 125 gallon after a year in the hobby. unlike most things in this hobby, this thing will pay for itself in 7 months or so.

 

I have a 5 stage from Bulk Reef Supply, works great.


I think you would be fine with the 4 stage, BRS 4 Stage Value PLUS RO/DI System - 75GPD


$169 is the cost of it. But if you wait for the deal of the day, it would probably be $10 to $20 dollars cheaper.

 

After having owned 3 different units, I would suggest the vertical DI cartridge and the 75gpd membrane for the most efficient setup. The dual or triple TDS sensor and the pressure gauge are also pretty handy! You also will likely want a reservoir (such as a brute trashcan) with a float switch so you don't accidentally leave it running and have plenty on hand.

I have the air water and ice model Lee is talking about. It was the best investment I made 4 years ago. I'd almost grab a set of replacement filters to have on hand or at least have a link to the replacement kit bookmarked so you have quick and easy access to ordering them in the future.

I think you will be happy with that unit. As mentioned above, extra filters on hand would be good so you don't have to pay shipping on them 6 months down the road, and might as well get the float switch while you're at it.
