Repainting back wall?

    So my tank's back wall is painted sky blue. I wanted to give it a chance when I set it up but I'm discovering I just don't care for the look. Has anyone ever scraped and repainted a tank after it's set up?

    That doesn't sound fun at all...I scraped one a few years ago before it was set up and it was a pain. Don't know what kind of paint mine had on it but it certainly wasn't an easy latex.

    I think this stuff should come off pretty easy. It is latex. I'm just worried about painting and the fumes. Or should I get some of that plastic stuff for the back....

    Shouldn't be any harmfull fumes if you brush on a latex. I would probably look for a low or no-VOC paint.

    Keep this in mind... I painted my tank black, I love the look of it, BUT! If you have dark colored fish that are hard to see!

    I painted mine light blue, I love the look. Brightens everything up.

    Mine naturally turned purple.
    I want to do something with the backs and sides of mine so you can't see the fish room equipment, but I was looking more at a vinyl stick on material instead of painting.

    Well, I scraped it and then I decided to pick up a sheet of aquarium backing so I didn't have to decide on a color just yet. The paint scraped off really easily. I used a long-handled razor blade intended for wall paper scraping.I was done scraping in 10 minutes or so. Took longer to clean up. Here are the before, middle and after pics.

    Looks good and great idea on just putting a backing on until you decide.
