Pump for water changes

I am looking for an inexpensive pump for water changes. My RO unit is in the laundry room and I mix the water there in a plastic garbage can. I would like a pump I can use to first siphon and clean out my sump then switch around to pump the new water in. Same for the tank. Gravity draining is too slow and really does not vacuum the sump well. Currently I have a submersible pump for adding the new water it is the draining I need ideas for.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Rio 1100, 1400, etc are cheap pumps and good for what you are wanting them for. Also a good used Mag 5 or Mag 7, those are a little stronger water movers if you have to push water uphill a ways.

Another idea is to use a sump pump. It sucks from the bottom, so you can pull everything out. I use mine when i move tanks. I think I paid $60 for it.

Sump pumps for sump pits are generally not made for SW though. Once you get a rio or mag going, you can rotate the inlet face down and it will do just as good of a job

Oh I figured this would be drop in just when ever to clean. I always rinse mine after every use, but I mostly have it so it can push water up a couple flights of stairs.

I think that is what he is looking for, and as you describe it, that would probably work as long as you took care of it as you do. Good solution for pumping water up a couple stories

I need to do this, I fill 4 5g buckets, heat it, mix it. Then take a gallon jug and a 2cup measuring cup- fill the jug with the measuring cup and pour it in, then repeat. 40g a week.
