I would like to get some other peoples opinions or shall i say feedback on where the proper most healthy salinity levels are.  I've herd anywhere from 1.018 to 1.025.
Now i keep mine at about 1.020-1.023. All things seems to be happy, but i'd like to hear what you have to say.  Thanks..  [IMG]

I like to run mine between 1.022 and 1.024, I do try to stay on the higher side. I personally think that anything below 1.021 is to low.

It depends on what you keep, a FOWLR could get by with lower salinity than a reef tank. For a reef tank, the standard is 1.026SG or 35PPT.

    +2 on Reef 35-37

Both FOWLRs between 31 and 33

wouldn't that be high when up in the 30+ range for either type?

I'm not following you. I keep the reef tank at 35 and no more than 36, but on one occasion it got up to 37. 35 is recommended for Reef
For the FOWLRs I try to keep it at 31 but owners aren't real on top of it so they don't top off daily and it goes up and down. You can go 29 or even lower for FOWLR but even going up to 36 isn't going to hurt.  Being consistent is the key and matching during PWCs.
Lowering the salinity helps keep pests away, because they cannot survive at low salinity.  I think Seascapes keeps theirs pretty thin, like 27.

I believe he is talking 35 ppt (parts per thousand) which is roughly 1.026
