My PBT is in qt and been there for 5 days. All is good and its eating. I just tested an my ammonia is .5 Do I put her in my DT now so I don't over stress her? I have done water changes and next day ammonia is back.

Sounds like the QT is doing a cycle. Hopefully you have some sponge filters or something that was seeded for a couple of weeks in your main tank. You could always use something like AmQuel Plus to detox the ammonia. That would go very well with the water changes, and help reduce toxicity in the fish. I've lost fish to ammonia poisoning in my QT (long story).

Yea, like nick said use something that will lock up the ammonia. And continue to do water changes. How big is the tank? How big is the fish? I think its a learning process if using a QT tank that is not set up 100% of the time. I have ran into the same issues and lost fish. You really need to be ready with lots of extra salt water mixed up and ready to go. Its hard to have enough of an established biological filter to keep things in check.
