What works well for black paint on the back of tank? I tried a rustoleum type product today and whatever paint was under it bubbled and peeled off. I stripped it back to bare glass and am ready to start over.

    Thank you!

Go to a sign shop like cr signs and buy the black vinyl. Goes on like window tint and lasts forever and can be removed if so desired by peeling off.

I've used matte black rustoleum no problem. Make sure the glass is perfectly clean, and then no residue from your cleaner. The vinyl is a good choice as well. Starting with a clean surface is key to both

Plasti dip is fine on the exterior of the glass. Krylon fusion works wonders too. I have used it on the exterior and interior of my tanks. There are many threads on multiple reef forums. My current tank has krylon fusion blue on the exterior rear glass and on the interior for the overflow. The bottom has krylon fusion black on the exterior and the interior has a sandy color.
