Advice? Tank Build! overflow box

That is one thing I am doing on my build.

I am T ing off one pump to run my GFO & Carbon reactors. I also have a T running to a drain for a quick easy water change if you have that option. Open a valve, empty 10-20 gallons, close valve.

A dc pump is efficient, and the prices are looking better all the time. Just make sure you plug them into a surge protection device.

Another related piece of advice is to spend the money on decent valves. I dont know how many times in the past that I have had valves from hardware stores freeze on me. Even the sch80 ones. It may hurt the pocketbook now, but you will be happy if you have this system up and running for a long time.

 

What are you suggesting for valves?

I use these. They are a union valve, so if they do freeze up in the future, you just unscrew them and screw in the new one.

 

Yeah those aren't cheap. Lol

 

Yes, but first time you have to cut out a stuck valve, and glue in a longer pipe, unions, and a new valve it will be worth it

 

What are you running for a return pump?

 

I was thinking either the dc10k or 12k

 

If you have a choice, go bigger. You can always valve it down, but you cant make it pump more
