Old lady got me some new razor blades for stocking stuffer.
So it was time for the yearly toadstool beheading.
She likes to cut him.

Just gave it to a guy here in fort dodge.
Along with pocllipora,pavona,torch,fuzzy birdnest,purple cap,and gorilla nipple zoos.
Tank needed trimmed bad.
Pretty sure he's the only other guy up here with a reef tank

Awesome! What's the method behind slicing laterally instead of a vertical split?

 

Well the top gets about the size of a dinner plate when fully open.
And blocks the flow of the mp-40.
So we've always just trimmed top off once a year.
He gets pretty pissed off for a couple weeks but makes a full recovery.
Basically he's been in there forever so I'd hate to completely cut him off the rock, so she trims him up once a year.
