First, thank you for having a site here in Iowa that we can come to to get great advice. I am new to the reef world and look forward to getting started. I have viewed this hobby from the outside but never jumped in (no pun intended).

My name is Lee and will need a lot of help. :)

    Here is what I have:
    Just purchased:
    29 Gal Biocube (not HQ)
    50 lbs dry live rock

    What I need to buy:
    Protein skimmer
    heater
    pumps
    etc.

I would really like to do a closed system, build my own stand and canopy. I just like all the equipment hidden, that's why I like the closed system look. I am really up for any advice on setup, equipment, cycling, lighting, and you name it. I greatly appreciate any help for this old dog.

Welcome! There are a lot of members in the Des Moines area. Just holler if you want to discuss your set up.

Welcome!! I think you'll enjoy yourself here. Lots of amazing reefers on this board, as most are very kind and helpful.

If you can't find some equipment on here to help with your set up process, Bulk Reef Supply has free shipping right now too (thought I'd throw that out there). Good luck.

Welcome! I just became a member (no other reason than to say thanks and give back a little to this resource) and I have just set up a Coralife BioCube 29, as well. Been running for three weeks, used live rock from my old tank and a new Oolite live sand bed (about 1.5") and the 'uglies' have set in. I can only assume from the silicates in the new sand bed?
Feel free to ask any questions, but this is my first nano all-in-one setup so I don't know really if I'd be giving any 'sound' advice!
