I am off and running on the 135G I bought from Irishstock.[IMG] I am looking for comments and suggestions on what and how to go about this. I currently have a 55G (8 months) that is going just OK.
I would like to start with the sump. It os a 30G box. I Will be putting a Vertex In-sump IN100 skimmer in it. Beyond that ???? I tend to overfeed so... I think I want a sock, water "polisher", LR, sand-mud, macro algae, carbon????
I put an ad on buy/sell/trade for wtb LR and substrate.
This was posted on DSM group by mistake.
    Here are some pics.

1 stop over feeding. #2 sump LR is good. #3 nix the sock. If you need a filter ONCE in a while, go to the fabric store and get some quilt batting and cut it to what you need...cheap. #4 either make seperate sections of the sump or get a cheap conatiner and put your rock/sand/mud/macro in it. #5 get a shower "stuff' holder. It has holes in it, get a net bag from petco/petsmart and put your carbon in it. Put it in the shower "stuff holder" where your flow comes into the sump. #6 chaeto is good in the sump..light I used was a cheapo strip plant light from Lowes...call me when you are ready for some.
None of this may be what you want to do but that tank for 11 yrs without a skimmer and very lax water changes...once it was established which was maybe 6ish months. Right now I have both my 55 and nano 29 running without a skimmer and both look pretty good...so far anyway. I put in some quilt batting when I clean the glass to collect gunk, run carbon and that's about it.

I got the sand (thaks Sean) and some live rock (thanks Irishstock) in. I added a damesl and cardinal to help cycling. Also, my nem in my 55G was not happy so I moved him to the 135G and he seems to be doing better. Am working on moving the sump to the basement today. Here are some pics.

Only suggestion I have, right now, is move that power strip from the edge of the sump...LOL yikes.. That will be nice once it's all set up and running how you want it. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif

I know... I thought about that after I posted it. [IMG] I am mounting it on the wall behind the tank. The sump is also going away, I got a 75G tank I am going to use as a sump. Needs a little cleaning.
pic below. I need a better job and a bigger house LOL [IMG]
