Lost Power tonight :(

Well we are getting are first needed rain for the season. That is good,What really stunk is I lost my power for 3.5 hours. Living in the country can be a pain sometimes. Luckly I have my house wired up to back feed from my detach garage with a generator.Need to make one mental note though.(HAVE GAS ON HAND) /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/tongue.gif

Sounds like your generator kept things going?

Would be a good idea to keep fuel on hand...lol.

I usually do my annual prepare for no power post about this time every year.

A couple drops of hydrogen peroxide every few minutes will help keep your oxygen levels up.

 

I lost power too..... My anti siphon holes on my return were blocked and woke up to 25ish gallons on the carpet...RAAR!! I see why people have generators, gonna be looking into that for sure

Well yeah lol, gonna check em more often and make em bigger. was more like 10gallons, looked like a lot more but only took 2 buckets to top it off. Oh well, carpets needed cleaning anyways lol

Anyone using or have recommendations on standby generators? I've been starting to look into the Generac and Kohler natural gas ones.

 

I think generators are a must. For most of us that have thousands of dollars in our tanks i think its dumb not to have some kind of backup. I dont know why i went so long without one but i got one a few yrs back and ive already used it multiple times. It should be a pretty easy decision to spend 5-800 bux on something thatll save you thousands!

 

I lost power as well but for only 20 minutes. Still had 12 gallons of water on the floor by the time I made it downstairs to shut the values. I'm in the process of order a couple 5000VA battery backups. That should be enough to keep my Reeflo Dart and heater running for 6 plus hours.

 

Dosn't that concern you? You shouldn't have any water on the floor if the power goes out regardless of how long if your system is setup properly. Wont your pump run dry and burn up if your not around when the power comes back on being 12+ gallons runs on the floor evry time the power goes off?





Have you priced 5000va UPS's ? Those things are expensive. A standby genreator would be less and never go dead.

 

Yup i agree with jamie you should never have water go on the floor when power goes out. Turn your pump off and let the sump fill to where your comfortable with it rising to and take out water if you need to if theres too much. Then turn it back on and that should be your running water level!

 

Yes I understand that I should not have water on my floor when the power goes out. The previous owner of this tank put a 2" bulk head on the wrong side of the sump so my water level is higher than it should be in the sump. I am in the process of rebuilding my tank with a larger sump and correct plumbing. Just taking me a bit of time to get everything done.
