I personally used odyssea t5 x 4 fixture and had no issues with it, has same features that other fixtures have, for way less $$$. Seems the early models were the problem ones from what i read before getting mine a while back. I dont have the newest model with the internal timer and ballasts tho, just the previous style with external ballasts. Only thing i would change on mine was not having a cooling fan and the moonlights are pretty weak, other than that 2+ years running and no mechanical problems whatsoever. Good light for those on a budget imo.

I had a t5 and was ok. Then I upgraded to the 48 150 hqi and after 2 weeks there was a short in it then it stopped working. T5 yes HQI a big no!!! Do research there are issues and I was one that had them.

 

I think its a hit or miss! I have had no problems with the T5 lighting,but have heard there are issues with older or past models of MH combos. I would do some research on the model you want and see what is said about it. If its in your budget and you can take the chance then go for it I did on the T5 units and they have done very well for me..

Also there are many used lights out there that you can pick up for a fraction of new.
