Ok so I'm just looking into the whole DIY of led building to do some day and looking to do 3 led fixtures 55 LEDs per fixture of 3 watts. My question is what ones do I choose at in how many blue and uv and how many white and what range in kelvin spectrum?

What size tank are you running? 165 LEDs at 3 watts sounds like a ton of lights. I know you wouldn't run them full power, but that still seem like a lot. Granted mine is not DIY but I light my 250gallon tank just fine with the 96 LEDs on my SOLs. The 180 gallon retro kit at Rapid LED only uses 90 LEDs.

For color choices its really up to you. Best bet is to try and find some people that have the lights and different color choices you are considering and check them out first hand. See what the tank looks like under them. There are countless combos out there that would work just fine.
When I was looking at them, the ratio of 1 white to 2 royal blue was popular. I think now that most are adding lower spectrum violet and UV a few more whites are thrown in there. Maybe 2 whites to 3 royals. Then the red and green you would probably only want 1 per fixture, maybe 2 if you're doing 55 LEDs per fixture.

Honestly, that seems like a waste of power to me. IMO 48 or even 36 per fixture would be more than enough.
