Does anyone have experience with this Biocube, what are its limits with Corals & Anemones ? Is the LED effective enough for Anems & Some Hard Corals?

    I appreciate the feedback

    Thanks

I bought an HQI one second hand. The hood was kind of goofy. No fans ran so the lights would overheat. I ended up taking it off and using the Coral Compulsion Par38 bulb and arm mount. It seems to be good for corals so far. I only have a couple LPS, but they seem to be doing ok at the lower level of the tank. My Anemone hates me. He never stays still and when he does he is usually under a rock where I can barely see him. :)

I love my biocube, it has LED lighting. (29gal) I have candy cane, acans, blastos, frogspawn, and duncans in there that have been doing great. Acros and stuff like that, not so much. I mostly stick to softies. It's best to have slow growing things due to the lack of space, it is some work to keep it maintained. I did have a mini carpet nem, but it ran around over everything and just caused problems so I didn't keep it. Too small for any other kind of nem.

I do have a chiller, protien skimmer, and fuge mod on the back. I add a UV Sterilizer every now and then just to keep it tidy. It's great for me!

Yep, it's got a chiller on the back below the fuge. Not that I use it much, but with the summer heat, it was nice.

I am looking at the JBJ Nano Intermediate with the 27W LED, I'm concerned it may not be the right amount of Light for an Anemone....

Any PAR values for them? Or maybe their support could give some numbers. How about the LED's colors? I really don't think the intermediate would be the best for an anemone. You might get by if you have some area close to the top though.

I have a jbj nano 28 with pc hqi and I have a 28 Oceanic Biocube with just pcs. with my experience with both The Biocube with pcs is so much nicer. I don't like the hood on the jbj its a pain. The bio is perfect with the pcs and I like the hood better. Also The hqi is an overload for its right on the water 2 inches off. Now for fish it depends. My jbj I have 4 fish 2 black clowns with 2 pajama cards. My Bio has 2 black ice clowns with 2 peppermint shrimp. I might add a couple gobies to mine and thats it.

Thanks everyone, I will keep an eye out for a used one, but the new ones with a good lighting system are on the pricey side..
