I'm new to the saltwater hobby. I have a 75 gal reef tank that I am trying to get up and running. I was going to buy the Hydor Koralia Smart Wave Controller, but just wondering what size powerhead I will need.

I JUST put a smartwave on my tank. So far, i think i like it. Still playing with PH placement. You can put up to 100watts on each of the two chanels. The wattage of the pump may be your only limiting factor. For a 75 gallon tank.. i would probably follow the recomendation of the manufacturers recomendations. I am running two Koralia magnum 7's at the same time on a 150 gallon tank, if that tells you anything.

Don't want to make you not want to purchase it but you can get a reef keeper lite for just over $100 and it can do the same plus control/monitor your lights heater/chiller just about everything on your tank. And is always expandable if you want to add more to it.

It's generally recommended that the intank flow be at 35 times the water volume. Are you planning on keeping SPS corals?
