I thought I'd share my recent experience with a Half Black Angel. Bought him about 6 weeks ago, and at the time didnt have much for corals except GSP. Recently have been interested in corals and aquired some starter frags, zoas, birdsnest, cap, etc. Yeah it didnt even take him 5 days to eat ALL of my expensive zoas and hes on his way to killing off a whole rock covered in probably 50+ heads. Needless to say I really wanna catch him and throw him on a frying pan but I think Im gonna give him to my uncle. I know dwarf and most larger angelfish are not reef safe or "with caution" but I was just curious if anyone has had any angels that dont tear up corals. Im really interested in a Koran, anyone had luck with them?

It depends on what you have. I have 2 flameback angels that doesnt bother my LPS, and 2 flame angels that dont bother my sps

Yeah like I said im just getting started into the corals. So far Im a huge zoas guy haha, that might sound lame but alright. I'd have to say Im more into the "softies" wavy kindof stuff. Right now I have pumping xenia, gsp, cap, yellow polyps, rbta, digi?, birdsnest, feather duster, rock aneneme, and some neon green tree, dont know the name of it. And for the most part he just goes after the zoas and green star polyps.

I had a Majestic and Asfur angel that didn't do any damage to my soft corals but didn't have any SPS coral in the tank so can't say they wouldn't bother SPS corals.

I have a coral beauty who hasn't touched a thing.

I also have an emperor angel who doesn't bother my, LPS, SPS, or my clam. However he does have an appetite for zoas.

I am not sure what a half black is. If it is a larger angel, they love the softer stuff, but usually leave most SPS alone. (as a general rule anyway)

Half black angel is a dwarf angel, and hes silver in the front half and black on the back half, with bright blue lines running along the outline of his body. Pretty cool little fish but not worth the amount of corals hes eating!

Sooo I just got done draining my 75G down to nothing practically and still couldnt catch the f***er. Pretty irritated. So if anyone in the CR area has a tank without zoas or softies and wants a half black angel if you come help me catch him you can have him. It took me forever to get my rockwork the way i like it though so were not tearing down my rockwork, so hopefully somebody has some good fish catching skills haha.
