flow rate

    looking for new power heads for the dream tank 120gal. what kind of flow rate is needed. input would be nice and thanks.

    It depends on what you're planning to keep. In the order from lowest flow to highest flow, it would be:

    LOWEST FLOW --- Fish only --- Soft Corals --- LPS Corals --- SPS Corals --- HIGHEST FLOW

    If you set your tank up for SPS, you can keep everything. If you want to just keep fish, you probably wouldn't even require any powerheads...just a return pump. Then there's questions like budget, single speed or variable speed, etc. Actually, probably the first question is budget, then coral type, then single/variable speed pumps. Answer those questions, and we can give you more information.

    Ok I have softies and a few spf's and only a few fish. Mp40 are the high side. Thanks
