I currently have two snowflake eels, approx. 18 inches in length. I am feeding them with a pair of tongs, and with each feeding they are getting closer and closer to the top of the tank. I am worried that before too long I am going to have an eel jumping around on my floor. Is there any special way that I can feed these eels, without having to actually hold the food in front of their face? Prefer to keep the lid closed if I can! Thanks!

Snowflakes are pretty docile for eels. That being said, yes, they still can bite. You should't need to worry to much about your arm or hand being in the tank with food. Just keep the tongs between you and the eel. You can also put the food in the tank as long as it sinks and they can "sniff" it out pretty well. That way you don't need to worry about any fingers getting bit or jumping out.

Sounds great. I am currently using tongs that are about 6 inches long, so sometimes things get a little iffy!! Thanks for all the feedback!
