I would like to order my clean up crew but I'm worried about the cold weather. Has anyone ordered stuff like this during the winter months? I have also attached a screen shot of the CUC recommended for my tank to me it seems like overkill. So I guess I'm looking for advice on if it's wise to order this now and if I need more or less on the cleanup crew or if the screen shot is the perfect amount.

I bought some fighting conches in early December and they sat on my front door step for a few hours when it was below 30 degrees and they're still alive and kicking.

IMO what is normally listed is overkill. For an alternate opinion, you could check the BRS videos regarding their 52 week build. In one of the episodes about late November they talked about CUC's and the amt they were putting in their tank. It was quite a bit smaller than that, if I remember correctly.

Unless you feed a lot, a lot of them are probably going to starve

Thanks Janette I really felt like it was overkill and I didn't want to kill off half of the cuc just because someone wanted to make a little more money

I usually just get a nano pack with a good mix of different snails and a few crabs.
Kind of depends on size of tank and if you have a lot of algae or whatever problem or if you trying to avoid algae or whatever.
So my question to you. How old, how big, how much sand does your tank have?

@jeremy@jeremy I ended up ordering a pack for a 20 gallon. The tank just cycled and there is the normal algae growth you would see with a new setup. It is a 125 gallon with a 40 gallon breeder sump. I am just looking to help keep the tank clean and it has a 3 inch sand bed.

Sorry @new2salt@new2salt not trying hijack your thread but does anyone know where to find some trochus snails? I have been looking for a while but can't seem to find any in stock.

Good. Sounds about right. You can always order more when tank matures.
