well i may be getting a new tank and its not reef ready so will need drilled, and at that time i thought about drilling for a closed loop system too, was just wondering what the pros and cons are and if anyone runs them??

I thought about it but decided against it.

    Pros are good flow

    Cons are
    Higher elec & heat transfer
    more places for leaks
pipes will close over time with debris & growth

true and also more risk to break the tank drilling...thatd be my luck. just dont want to spend the money for the powerheads i want haha

By the time you purchase all the bulkheads/ and a decent pump you will probably have a lot more into it than just buying a few koralias. Powerheads would be much cheaper IMO.

What size of tank are you drilling? Have you checked with the maker yet to make sure it's not tempered?
