Looking to Buy Chaeto

I wanted to get some chaeto at Seascapes and was a little afraid to make the purchase after what I saw. I've read that you can kill stuff off of it by rinsing the heck out of it in tap water, dipping it in coral rx, putting it in the fridge, etc. Does anyone have any experience doing any of these things and have advice on what works/doesn't work?

Alternatively, does anyone have spare chaeto they are willing to part with in the Des Moines area(preferably on the west side)?

If anyone else has any other macro algaes in the DSM area, let me know... I think I would prefer to avoid caulerpa but would be very interested in ulva, halymenia (dragon's tongue), hypnea, gracilaria, or botryocladia (red grape).
