I ordered a bulkhead from Pet Solutions for my RO water tank and it is the ¾” it has SLP X SLP 3/4" (1-1/2" Hole). I went to 3 different hardware stores to find something to put on as a shutoff valve or spigot. I cannot find anything that will screw into it. It is bigger than the 1” and small than the 1 ¼”. I could not find any adapters to covert to the smaller spigots I found.
Has anyone purchased a ¾ bulkhead and found the proper adapters for a shutoff? I am by CR & Iowa City if that helps do I need to find a pluming supply place?

I'm confused by your question. It the bulkhead you are getting is 3/4", then you just need something with 3/4" threaded? Or if it's slip x slip, then a piece of 3/4" pipe + a slip-to-male thread adapter then a 3/4" threaded ball valve. What am I missing?

Are you trying to find something that will screw onto the outside threads of the bulkhead? The same threads the nut goes on to install the bulkhead and seal it. If so that's not going to happen.
If it's a 3/4" slp/slp as you stated you're going to need to glue a 3/4" pipe or fitting on the inside and go from there.

I thought of doing a PVC glue/weld of a pipe into the bulk head but then I will not be able to remove the bulkhead if I need to reseal or replace the gasket. The nut will not be able to be removed once I glue the other end to an adapter to connect to the spigot.

glue in 3/4" small section of pipe, then a slip/thread male adapter. You can usually slide the nut over the threaded adapter, you might have to shave off a bit of the hex-nut area of the adapter to maek that work.
Or get a thread/slip bulkhead (slip on flange side) and then buy a screw-in valve

That is why I buy threaded bulkheads.

The nut on the (threaded Dave) bulkhead will not fit over the slip/thread male adapter that I bought so it sounds like you suggest filing down the adapter. I'll give that a look/try tonight. Thanx

If it fits over the outer diameter of the slip side, then you can file off the "nut" part of the adapter (the part that looks like it was made for grabbing on to with a crescent wrench)

The nut will not fit over the slip side of my adapter. Do they make a thin walled slip/thread male adapter?
I can't be the only one who is trying this, doesn't anyone else have a bulkhead with a spigot on their RO water or saltwater mixed container?

You have to get a slip/thread bulkhead. There's no other way to do it. Slip on flange/head side, thread on the other side. or a thread x thread. There is no standard female threaded fitting that fits over the outside of the bulkhead (like the nut)

Yep, and I have a threaded bulkhead and it works great LOL.

ok so that is permanent. There is no way to get that off without sawing it off and replacing the bulkhead and spigot right? That is all I wanted to confirm.
You can loosen it if you need to add silicone because of a possible leak but other wise it is on for good. right?
One last question after seeing this picture, I expected to put the gasket on the inside of the container. Is it best to put it on the outside or were you not able to so it was put on the outside.

Nothing is permanent, its a threaded connection. If i want to take it apart I unscrew it. That piece between the bulkhead and the ball valve is a threaded fitting. One end threads into the bulkhead the other into the ball valve.
Gasket will go on the inside of the container between the flange of the bulkhead and the container. Make sure both surfaces are nice and clean and flat.

ok That is what I thought after reading your last posts I need to find a 3/4" threaded PVC pipe. I will get to menards tomorrow. i am sure the nut of the bulk head will fit through that.
I looked at my local Ace hardware for that and did not see one so I thought specialty plumbing store possibly.
I do have a round cylinder but I was told I will need to use some silicone along with the gasket so I will plan on doing that.
Thanx for helping me through this guys!

Is the inside of your bulkhead threaded? If you bought a slip/slip bulkhead as your first post indicated a 3/4 threaded PVC pipe won't screw into something with no threads.....

I'm with you David, I am now completely confused.

Ok Sorry I see where I was getting confused on my communication. I did purchased a Slip Bulkhead, there are no threads on the inside of the bulkhead.
I saw the picture Bud sent about the riser and I plan on getting one and cutting one threaded end off and gluing it to the bulk head then Thread the adapter onto the riser and screw in the spigot to the adapter. Then I can still disconnect it by removing the spigot and the nut will unscrew off the bulkhead and slid off the riser.
From David's picture I could not tell the bulkhead was threaded (on the inside) so I thought he glued both ends of the riser or actually just used a PVC pipe.
Probably will get a threaded one next time but this will work once I realized there is no adapter that will fit the outside threads which I find surprising.
