I just started running a biopellet reactor (from BRS) Ive been running it for about a week or so. Now my water is a little cloudy and my birdsnest is closing up. Is that from biopellet reactor?? I did a water change and it still is a little cloudy.

You want to be careful to start with only a portion of a full load of biopellets when you start.

How big is your tank? That seems like quite a bit unless you are running a very large tank. Are your pellets tumbling?

My tank is a 75g. They are tumbling. And in the reactor it's just under half way full but they are tumbling.

That's a lot of pellets. I would start with half a cup or a little more. I'm no expert, however.

yeah thats way too much. 1 cup per 50 gal is what brs recommends. When you start you should really only do like 1/4 of that amount.

Ok so should I remove the pellets? Also can you re-use the bio pellets after removing them?

I would take them off line for now let your tank readjust and then start again with a much smaller amount. As far as reusing them. when you smell them you may not want too.

if you stop running the reactor take the pellets out of the water and let them dry and they will be fine i use a noodle strainer. DONT LEAVE THEM SET IN THE REACTOR OMG THEY STINK!!!!!

I would just run it with 1 cup of pellets to start with.. Maybe shut it down for a few days and see what your tank does. Just go easy take baby steps and pay close attention to what your livestock does

I turned off the bio pellets yesterday ...today my tank is clear! I think I'll start it back up in 4 days or so

I wouldn't restart the reactor with the same pellets. You will get a buildup of bacteria in there that wouldn't be good to release into the tank. If you are restarting, I would start fresh with a lot less media.
