I need more outlets for running dosers... Here's my questions: I have 1 outlet left on the EB 8. When I get another EB, do I plug it into the EB 8 that has the unused/open outlet or, into a wall outlet?? Will I need to connect the new EB to the black box that says Power, Aquabus, I/O, ... V1/V2, V3/V4...? (Sorry, I don't know if that's called the Apex Base?...it's the box where I ran the USB cable to my 40B's EB 8) The box I'm referring to has one open spot that shows Aquabus above it. Last, for only $40 more I can buy the EB 8...would you buy the EB 8 or the EB 4?

    Thanks guys for the help!/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Nope, you can daisy chain them together, so your USB/aquabus cable from the existing eb8 can link directly to your new eb8 and have all the same functionality. The new eb8 will just plug directly into a constant power supply on the wall. I think an eb8 for 40 more bucks is a no brainer, but then that really depends, if you literally don't plan on expanding your system much, then dont worry about it.

One thing to note on the EB4 is that all 4 outlets have mechanical relays. The EB8 only has 2 mechanical relays so it depends on how many dosers you are planning on running. I've heard of dosers not shutting off if installed on the triac outlets. I'm sure someone else with more experience on this issue will chime in to verify whether this an issue still.

I don't understand Andy/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/sad.gif The USB cable in the existing EB 8 is plugged into that EB8 and that black box. I think with the new EB 8 I get another USB cable...that's where I'm wondering if I plug that cable into the new EB 8 and that black box?

You can plug the usb from the new eb8 into the base or into your old eb8. The power cable for the new eb8 goes directly into the wall though

I have no idea what a mechanical relay outlet is and a triac outlet/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/blink.gif Maybe someone can explain this to me? I know the EB8 is numbered 1 through 8 for the outlets so if there are outlets that I should not plug the 2 dosers in to, which 2 should I NOT use?

Also, I plan to free up a wall outlet and extension cord with the new EB8...I will use them for MaxiJets and Vortecs. IF I would need to, is it okay to plug an EB8 cord into a different EB8 outlet? Hopefully, I won't need to but I'm unsure at this point.../DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/unsure.gif

On the EB8 there are two mechanical outlets (4 & 8). The EB4 consists of all mechanical outlets. If you only need two spots for dosing pumps then you might as well purchase the EB8.

    Here's an excerpt from neptune's documentation: http://www.neptunesystems.com/wp-co...Manual.pdf

One problem with TRIAC controlled outlets however is that they sometimes cannot detect very low power factor devices and as a result may not switch off correctly. They fail in an ‘on’ state. This only happens with very low power devices, < 4-5 watts. So, if you have any device like that, you might consider putting it on outlets 4 or 8. Dosing pumps and very small power heads are good examples of problematic devices with TRIAC outlets.
