My tank has almost completed its cycle. How long should I wait until I add any frags?

I added mine after Cycled around a Month after first setup. Things have been great. Good clean water and good Lighting is key. Maybe not the right way to go, but its worked for me. Keep in mind keep your frags cheap. First one I put in was a Leather. It did great and now after two months I have about 15 coral in my tank and doing great. Not typical maybe, but it can work.

I had some Mushrooms come in on my live rock too. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif This is my tank as I speak...
Did some rearranging tonight to get some room for Frags and better light some areas along with water circulation so most of my coral are mad at the minute.

Just because it has cycled does not mean it is mature enough for coral.

I answered from my phone, so didnt want to type forever.

Alot depends on how big the tank is, filtration, how much live rock (established, not new), and what type of corals you are looking for.

There are several stages of tank maturity, it will go through many changes for the first year.

Your tank has gone through the nitrogen cycle, which is a good start. But now your tank will evolve into its own ecosystem. Bacteria will continue to grow & help feed your tank, as well as keep nitrogen at bay. Your microlife will start to get established. First the small pods, then the larger isopods, micro starfish or worms. All this contributes to the welfare of your tank.

Once your tank gets to a good balance, your ecosystem will begin to thrive. It is much more enjoyable then fighting it all the time.

I always recomend patience, take things slow, and enjoy the ride.

I just hate to see people add stuff to quickly, and then be frustrated when they start having problems.

    Good luck
    Craig

This may all be stuff you are already aware of, but maybe another new person was not.

You are in one of the most exciting times of aquaria, setting up the new aquarium & watching it develope.
There are still tons of really cool things you can add slowly.  There are so many kinds of shrimp, colorful snails, crabs, and so forth.
When you are ready, get one frag, and see how it goes.
Good luck & keep us updated.
