so i will be moving in a couple of weeks and the girlfriend said i could upgrade to a 40B.  My question is whats the best configuration for drilling the back of the tank, and plumbing.   If you have some pictures i would appreciate it.  or if you can guide me to a good thread to read.

i drilled mine on the back wall, built a small overflow out of acrylic then drilled a second hole for a return line and plumbed it in with flex. i dont know if i still have pics of that tank or not

I think AC&C or someone up there can drill it for you. Since you're going to drill it, I would consider installing a Herbie (2-pipe) or BeanAnimal (3-pipe) system so that it's quiet and safe, then build a plenum return system if you don't mind the return coming over the top of the casing and spreading out. The overflow could be done with glass, or with an internal/external acrylic box held on by bulkheads. You would probably want 2 holes for flow-through to the external box in either case. I'm a big fan of the Bean system and I read the *entire* thread on RC.
