The Waterloo and Cedar Rapids group have teamed up for a DIY food event.
We will be using this recipe. The club buys all the ingredients and then prices the bags so it ends up a break even event.
Bags will be 1 gallon ziplock bags and roughly 16oz. Cost will be determined after all the ingredients are purchased. But we typically have it priced $10-12/bag for members that attend the event and help with the process and $15-17 for everyone else. That's less than half of a lot of the good frozen food options.
Everyone is welcome to attend, learn how to make food, and hang out with fellow hobbyists. If you can not attend, but wish to purchase food that can be arranged.

Please sign up in this thread if you wish to purchase food.
We need a final bag count to order the ingredients.

If anyone wants to change qty let me know.
@Region: Cedar Rapids & Iowa City @Region: Waterloo & Cedar Falls If anyone else is interested in food let me know so we can get you added to the list and make sure we order enough ingredients.

For those attending the event here is the list of supplies we need. If you can bring something please post so that we don't end up with 6 food processors and no knives or something.

We have most of the supplies needed, but there are a couple that we could use.
    A couple 5 gallon buckets - clean
    1 gallon buckets
    sharp knives
    cutting boards
Large net - to strain some of the smaller ingredients
Heavy duty corded drill with 1/2" chuck - cheap drills will not work
couple extension cords and power strips

Does it have to be corded? I have a pretty powerful dewalt cordless.

@blackx-runner@blackx-runner has a 20 g keg tub for mixing, and the mixing paddle, as well as the primary food processor and a secondary one (which I would not use unless the big Cuisinart one tanks, which is not likely). The smaller one is not nearly as effective...

You will definitely need a corded heavy duty drill with 1/2" chuck

1g or 2g buckets are good, several of them (3 or 4 probably) - the 5g bucket not totally necessary, unless you are using them to thaw stuff, but could use 5g for storing all the cut up cod/shrimp before it's mixed

No nets needed - you will not be straining anything (clarification: don't strain anything)

You will also want a stack of 16oz solo cups for portioning, about 5 or so, 1g freezer ziplock bags (50) and about a half dozen 2g ziplock bags (I think some were in the kit, you may need more though)

I'll be updating the resource with this info ASAP

We'll plan on getting a few pizza's from Casey's. We'll grab some lunch, get a game plan together beforehand than start in on the food making. Hope everyone is looking forward to this.

I have a 2 gallon bucket I just bought with a good handle. I may have a about a dozen or more solo cups. I have a 5 Gallon stainless steal pot with a lid need that? I 2-3 clean 5 gallon buckets but sounds like they are not needed. I will bring a couple knives and a hand held sharpener, I think that works best. I will bring 1-2 cutting boards also. gloves?

Buckets, knives, and sharpener for sure. There are a couple cutting boards if you don't want to bring yours. We have some gloves, but wouldn't hurt to bring yours if you have some already.

I have a high torque drill used to mix mud and mortar, AKA the arm breaker. I'll see if I can make it. If I can't I can get it to blackx

I am not going to be able to make it but I would still like three bags. Can I pay in advance somehow and pick up from someone at a later date? Just let me know or send me a message and I will respond with my phone number.
