This is the perfect time for folks to sign up for that long-elusive membership. I know it's a sore subject with some, but basically $20 to get a membership and get into Fall Fest should be a no brainer.

I will be one of the vendors there and will be giving away one of my L2 Algae Scrubbers. It will be the second generation of this product also, which I am currently building & troubleshooting.

My pricing structure is going to chance, but I will be offering a reduced price at the show, along with a few bonus items. More info to come by the middle of October!

Since this is labeled as the "official thread" for this, I thought I would ask my questions here.

As you can see, I am new to the GIRS and I am under the impression that the "Fall Fest" and "Frag Fest" are one in the same, correct?

I currently am tankless (you can read more about it in my 'Hello from Marion' post in the introduction forums - http://www.greateriowareefsociety.o...fault.aspx), and I've just barely dabbled in corals about 9 years back before a catestrophic tank loss that got me away from the hobby for a while, so is the upcoming Fall Fest something that a non-tank owner who is still planning out a 120 gallon FOWLR tank would/could get some real benefit from?

I live in marion, so a drive down to Iowa City isn't that far. I would probably just pay the $20 membership to get in "free" since that has the greatest potential to not only help me out here, but hopefully support GIRS too.

If I had been around here longer, I would find it interesting to put faces to names, but I am just "the new guy" so that isn't a big deal to any of you as you will already have built relationships and be oogling over the frags and such.

Just wondering as I would probably spend a majority of the time there so that I could listen to the speakers and of course stay through the raffle.

Thoughts on it for a newbie to the group? Thanks!

Even if you don't by corals it is a good event for sure. You can get a taste of how the show works, we have another one in the Spring. The speakers alone are worth it, IMO. Plus it is free if you were going to join anyways. I can't really think of any downsides to be honest.

They should *require* people to wear name tags with their username. LOL /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/biggrin.gif

My biggest advice to you is dont be shy. Walk up to people and introduce yourself. I met a great deal of people from this club that way and not a single one bit me in the process.
