I just got my Vega's hooked up a couple of hours ago. So far I really like the EXT hanging kit even though I had to youtube the videos on how to set it up a few times. On reef central many people were complaining about how touchy the controler is but I did not find this to matter at all. The coverage on my 48x22x18 is great and I only have the lights at 50% or less in all of these pics. I really like how I can demo an entire 24 hour period on how I set the lights in a few minutes. I guess one thing I don't like is there is no guide on what percentage they recomend to set each individual light color at. Right now I have the royal blue at 1% for my night light. I will update on how I set mine up. This tank is only 4 weeks old so I don't have any corals in it yet.

What are you liking/disliking so far about the Vegas?

Must have some crazy water evaporation though!

I have had them for about two months now. I like them a lot but I got them early on their was not information about how to set them up. I have looked all over the Internet to see how people using the settings and have found very little. I know many people have bleached coral when they first hook them up including myself. They don't come with any type of instruction or settings reccomendations. Thie controller has to be plugged in at all times to an outlet for the lights to work at all. It has shut off on me a couple times randomly and made the tank go dark but I unplug the controller and plug it back in not a big deal. After a couple months and many changes to the settings here is what I have come up with for now and things seem to be doing well.

I evaporate about 3/4 a gallon of water a day because it is rimless.

My lights hang 6.5 AWl and my tank is 48x22x18 and I have two, the coverage is great!

Sunrise 8:30 am with a two hour ramp up time

Sunset 6:30 pm with a two hour sunset

Night time 8:30 pm to 8:30 am 1% dark blue

    10:30 am to 6:30 pm 50% white 58% dark blue 58% blue 58% royal blue 40% green 40% red

    I run a 70% chance weather pattern 4 days a week

I have not used the lunar cycle yet because a lot of people are having trouble with this

It has up to 14 trimmers you can set for lights but I have not used them yet because it was hard to just decide on what I should have for one. Im not sure the point of the red and green lights yet but I wanted to make sure I got them to stay ahead if people findout they are useful for coral growth in the future. They really don't change the coloration of the tank. Don't worry about the disco effect people complain about I did not even notice it after a day.

Sweet tank, but i feel sorry for all the fish that will be jumping out...

The red and green colors are for getting different colors for your corals. You'll understand when you add a few corals.

I have a mesh from BRS that I put over when I'm not around. I try to stick with non jumping fish but I know there are gauranty it won't happen. I have a male and female bartlett anthias that are the only livestock I'm concerned about. The tang, clowns, cardinals, and dwarf angle seem to be ok.
