GIRS annual business meeting - Saturday Feb 9th

1. The GIRS annual business meeting will be held on Saturday, February 9th from 1 - 4 at the Williamsburg Recreational Center.
   
   A major focus of the meeting will be discuss and get input on the future direction of the club.

Thanks to everyone that attended the business meeting yesterday. It was a small group, but a very worthwhile meeting in my opinion. Great discussion regarding where we are as a club and what we want to do to move the club forward in 2019. Minutes from the meeting will be posted in the near future.

One big take-away from the meeting was that we really want to focus this year on increasing our activities/events in the various regions. We've set a goal that each region will have at least 3 local meetings/events (Not counting Spring or Fall Fest). That may not sound like alot, but considering that several regions had no events in 2018 - it would be a big step forward. Each region is being encouraged to have a planning meeting to identify activities for the year - so that they can be posted.

Dues-paying Memberships have dropped again for the 4th straight year. We are currently at 108 paid memberships. At the end of 2017 we had 120 paid memberships. Our goal is to increase memberships back to 120 for this year. We would like to do more, but that is our starting point.

We realize that in order for people to want to be dues-paying members ($20 annually), that they need to perceive the value. Our goal is to start having events, following up on forum messages, and to show you the value of the membership, not just talk about it.
