About a month ago I started to get some light cyano patches. Pictures below:

I haven't had many battles with cyano previously but I have had prior success with dosing Coral Snow and ZeoBak or MB-7 (bacterial additives). Since I've heard so many great things about Vibrant recently (another bacterial additive), I figured I would give it a try.

Below are the pics from yesterday (After about 1 month of dosing Vibrant):

If it isn't obvious from the pictures, things had gotten significantly worse. I had also been more diligent with feeding less and made sure GAC/GFO were fresh.

So last night I resorted to dosing chemiclean and here we are today:

Literally a night and day difference. I realize I'll have to stay on top of things due to the die off but things certainly look promising for now.

I'll try to keep everyone posted with how things progress.

    How about a FTS?

  3. My results with vibrant for dinoflagellates weren't so good. Chemiclean worked well for me when I had cyanobacteria.

I tried to keep the sections for the pictures somewhat consistent. I'm not sure I'd be able to capture enough detail on a full tank shot using a phone camera on this large of a tank.

Maybe it’s just looking at the pics on my phone, but the Cyano didn’t looks significantly bad? Kind of looked like mainly on the sand bed, and not taking over everything with a thick coating. I’ve seen that before, had that in the tank at Grove & Platt in one spot but it went away

I have occasional patches like you had and it doesn’t get any worse, at least not to the point where it affects anything.

The thing that's hard to distinguish in the pics is the difference between the cyano on the rocks and the maroon coralline. Way easier to differentiate in person, but in the pics you can see it primarily on the edges of the rocks.

    Here's a current FTS..

And btw @Bud@Bud that's your old powder blue and he rules this tank with an iron fist.
