In search of an ATO pump for my Red Sea Max 30g cube using a JBJ ATO. Pump needs to pump water from a container in the cabinet under the tank to the top of the tank - 48" head height. I've been using an Aqua lifter. In the winter when the evaporation is 1 gal/week, it works fine. In the summer time when evaporation is 3 gal/week, it can't keep up. The pump is currently sitting on the shelf below the tank - about 16" from the floor of the stand. I've tried changing the diaphram, but that hasn't helped. I've changed the JBJ ATO to the maximum run time. I prefer not to have a pump with 1/2" tubing - concerned for overflow, if it would ever fail. My controller is NOT an Apex - so the Neptune pump is not an option. I've looked at 3 options: 1) BRS 50 ml peristalic pump; 2) Avast Marine diaphram pump; 3) Tunze osmolater pump - if I could get someone to modify it for me to hook it up to a power supply. The reviews on all 3 options contains comments about them being loud - with the Tunze probably the loudest. Does anyone have any experience with any of these pumps? Any other suggestions?
