2015 Meeting Ideas

    Good Morning All,


    As you might be aware the new year 2015 has started. We just finished with our belated holiday party last week, and so I thought I'd kick out the ideas to the group of you to see about planning events for the rest of the year. What meetings/gatherings/topics/stuff would you like your club to do this year?


    I can almost guarantee we will do a DIY food day, but other than that we're pretty open. So feel free to post your ideas below. Here are some of the things I know or thought about, not in any order.


    • Spring Fest
    • Fall Fest
    • DIY Food Day
    • Get together/Grill Out/Cook Out
    • Nebraska Aquatics Supply Holiday Party (generally in September)

    It is their anniversary party! That's why it is in September.

    If we plan well now we could do the Omaha zoo also? Behind the scenes there is fun.

    Here's the current list for what we have and what my ideas are for the year. I got a little behind because the business meeting was usually in February; however, you may have noticed it was earlier this year. SO we are still seeking ideas for what you want to do with February.

    Jan - Holiday Party//Business Meeting
    Feb -
    March 7th, 2015 - Spring Fest
    April -
    May - DIY Food? Do we need more food?
    June - Blank
    July - We can try for a behind the scenes tour of the Omaha Zoo
    August - Live Aquaria Tour in the works. We can do a tank tour here as well.
    Sept - Nebraska Aquatics Supply Anniversary Party
    Oct - Fall Fest??
    Nov - BBQ/Cook Out
    December - Blank

    Aquarium pests - nudibranches....... - possibly expand it into hitchhikers discussion as well

    Tour of CC if DIY food isn't made there?
    Tour & Info by Bud about Turbo Aquatics Algae Scrubbers?
    Informational meetings: Quarantine and hospital tanks, commom diseases, medications, etc.
    Lighting (MH/T-5/LED,photoperiod, par/pur, etc)
    Nutrients (NO3/PO4, export methods-skimmers, algae scrubbers, chaeto, mangroves, etc)
    Dosing (when to start, what, manual/doser,etc)
    Cleanup crews (what critters, how many, etc)
    Fish (stocking, common, reef safe/predators, expert only, etc)
    Corals (softies/LPS/SPS/NPS, pests,etc)
    Info on Trustee duties
    Info on what it takes to put on Spring/Fall Fests

    There are literally hundreds of things that can be discussed regarding SW?Reefkeeping ;-)
