Des Moines Area Fragging Demo June 26th

We will be hosting a coral fragging Demo for the Des Moines area members and anyone else who wants to come. This will be a great first for new members who are looking to score some fresh cut frags.
Also I would like to ask if anyone has some extra coral that needs fragging bring it and we can donate that stuff to new members or whomever. Joe and myself will be providing the necessary tools, superglue, plugs and whatever else is needed.
So all you need to bring is:
Cooler/bags if you want to bring anything home ;)
Coral that you want fragged(optional)
Food/drink for yourself or if you feel like sharing(please post if your bringing for everyone)
Also might want a chair to relax in

Spring Fest

Spring Fest is this weekened and if you're not already excited about it, you should be! The vendor list is looking good with some brand new vendors including Reefkoi and Cherry Corals, and Iowa Pet Food and Seascapes. And how can we forget our other vendors that have been with us before like Dirk's, YZ Reef, Paul's Corals, Midwest Saltwater, House of Corals and Oceans Wonders. With our new venue, people can spread out and not worry about being cramped. And if that wasn't enough, two great speakers; Kevin Kohen and John Coppolina. And to add the cherry on top, our sponsors have been very generous and have contributed $2500 worth of reef gear and corals will be raffled!! Remember, GIRS members get a $5 discount and 5 free raffle tickets so it's also a great time to join if you're not already a member. It's going to be a great show. Don't miss it!!!

I would like to welcome FlyingMoray (Joe) as one of the Des Moines area trustees. Due to other commitments, Brandon requested to step down and Joe was nominated to fill the vacancy. Please congratulate Joe on his new role and when you get a moment, thank your local staff for all the hard work they put into making the club great!
Interested in serving on the GIRS board as a regional trustee? Contact your local area trustee and see what you can do to assist them. You never know when a position might open up and you might be just the person we need to fill the spot!

We have just confirmed our facility for the 2010 Spring Fest. Following in the footsteps of last years very successful spring fest, this years event promises to be better than ever. You may have noticed that there have been a few changes on to our website. If you look at your profile page, you will now see that you have some additional capabilities including the ability to create your own photo galleries inside your profile. Please take a few minutes to update your profile and settings by clicking on "Edit Profile" and or "My Settings" from within the profile page. You can get to the profile page by clicking on your username in the upper right hand corner of the page or by selecting "My Account/Profile" under "My GIRS" on the main menu.
We have setup "group" pages for each of the primary regions to better facilitate communication within the region. Please consider joining one or more groups to help us improve communication between the trustees and the members in their regions. Club membership is NOT required to join the regional groups. To join a group, visit one of the group pages linked below and click on "Join Group".
