I'm Looking into doing a DIY setup on my vitrea tank since the ones that came with it are burnt up. does anyone know any good sites that have kits available at a good price. I already have the heat sinks and powersupply would just need a driver, leds and optics.

Also if anyone has any smaller LED light strips or setups laying around I may buy or workout a trade for them. keep in mind this is an 8 gallon tank with a mix of sps and lps corals so they would need to be smaller. thanks in advance

Steve's LEDs carries Philips Luxeon LEDs now instead of the knock-offs he used to carry, and he is a distributor so he pretty much beats everyone else's prices.

I can second Steves LED's as being a good place to look. If you want Phillips Luxeons he is definately the guy to go to. I used mostly his parts in a 28 LED build for my 37 column and it turned out pretty nice.

On a side note if you want CREE LEDs I would reccomend RapidLED they were also quite prompt and fast.

If I can remember correctly Luxeon bulbs had better color rendering and wider spectrum while CREE bulbs have slightly higher intensity.  Of course this is always a moving target which varies from batch to batch and improves gradually with manufacturing process improvement.

thanks for the offer kyle but those lights won't handle any sps and my tank is going to be sps dominated. those will work great for your sons tank though, that is cool you are setting one up for him.

Why would they not handle SPS? They are 6500K?
    Color Temperature 6,000k-7,500k (white led)
    Color Temperature 10,000-11,000k (blue led)
You may need this one? 11" tank right?
