GIRS Fall Fest 2008 registration is now open

The Greater Iowa Reef Society presents Fall Fest 2008! This year's festivities will be held at the Isle of Capri Convention Center in Bettendorf, IA on November 15, 2008. Show hours are 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We are featuring nationally and internationally renowned speakers, free giveaways, raffle prizes, fragging demos and frag sales from vendors and hobbyists. Speakers include the following: - Anthony Calfo - Adam Cesnales - Rod Buehler - Reef Nutrition Raffle prizes: - Synthetic salt - Powerheads - Protein skimmers - Lighting - Complete nano tank - UV sterilizer - Reef additives - Gift certificates There is a new forum about the event if you would like to post any questions or comments. Discounts apply for early registration & GIRS membership. |

We will be having a BBQ on the evening of May 17th @ Davids house in Cedar Falls. Bring your own meat, drink, and a dish & we will have a nice dinner & talk some reef. RSVP in the Waterloo Forum so David knows how many cars will be parked in his yard.

Pizza -N- Bowling!Feb. 16th @ Doughy Joey's Peetza-Joynt in Waterloo
Followed by bowling at Maple lanes in Cedar Falls.
I have made reservations at Doughy Joey's for 6pm on Feb. 16th. The pizza and sodas will be provided by the club.
Once we are done stuffing ourselves with all the delicious FREE PIZZA, we will then head to Maple lanes in Cedar Falls for some bowling.
Hope to see you ALL there!!!
Note: We will be taking new memberships at this event, so if you have been wanting to become a member and want to join us for a nite of food and bowling, this would be the perfect time to join.

Raffle Prizes for January 19th

Well everyone we are getting close to our first meeting of 2008. As everyone knows we will have several exciting prizes to be raffled off this week. The raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each, 6 for $5, and 30 for $20. Each registered membership will recieve one free ticket when they sign into the meeting as well. For prizes we will have well over $600 in prizes to be raffled off. Their are a few larger prizes such as a 2 full registrations to the 2008 IMAC in Chicago, complete Phosban Reactor Kit including Phosban and pump, fragging kit, and many other exciting prizes including one we really feel you will like. The 2008 Greater Iowa Reef Society Board of Directors will be holding its first meeting on January 19th in Coralville, IA. The meeting will be held from 1:00-3:30PM and will be open to members and non-members alike. However, members will have the opportunity to win over $600 in prizes to be raffled at the meeting! Free refreshments will also be provided.
If you are not a member, now is the perfect time to join! We encourage membership dues to be paid via Paypal through our website, http://greateriowareefsociety.org Or you can simply join by filling out the form and send in your check or money order to the address listed on the form. The options is located under the "Join GIRS" tab on the right hand side of the front page. There will also be a computer available at the meeting for registration.

From I 80, take exit 240(Coral Ridge Mall) and go north on Hwy965. Go past McDonalds and Super Wal-Mart. Keep going north and you will come to a stoplight. There will be an American Inn and a Culvers on that corner. Keep going north to the next stoplight. That will be Oakdale Blvd. Go right (east) on Oakdale Blvd. Go over the tracks and the building will be on the right hand side about 1/2 mile.
