GIRS Fall Fest 2008 registration is now open

The Greater Iowa Reef Society presents Fall Fest 2008! This year's festivities will be held at the Isle of Capri Convention Center in Bettendorf, IA on November 15, 2008. Show hours are 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We are featuring nationally and internationally renowned speakers, free giveaways, raffle prizes, fragging demos and frag sales from vendors and hobbyists.
Speakers include the following:
- Anthony Calfo
- Adam Cesnales
- Rod Buehler
- Reef Nutrition
Raffle prizes:
- Synthetic salt
- Powerheads
- Protein skimmers
- Lighting
- Complete nano tank
- UV sterilizer
- Reef additives
- Gift certificates

AUGUST Photo Contest to Begin Monday the 4th...

It's that time again....
Our August Photo Contest starts at 2am on August 4th (thats actually midnight on the server that hosts our site)
The Theme for this Contest is............ "Saltwater Fish"
Get out those cameras and get shooting, the last contest had some great shots and we think there will be even more great shots for this contest.
All rules are the same as the last contest.
Here is the official description from the contest...
GIRS August Photo Contest...
The theme for this contest is "Saltwater Fish"
Enter up to 3 photos of your favorite Saltwater Fish.
Entries can be made starting at 2:00am on August 4th through 01:59am on August 24th.
Voting begins at 2am on August 24th and runs until 2am on August 31st.
Once voting begins you may vote for as many entries as you like, but you can only vote for an entry one time.
The winner will be displayed with the vote counts once the voting period is over.
The winner will receive a $25.00 Gift Certificate to Dr. Fosters and Smith from GIRS.
