New trustees - Quad City Region

Please join me in welcoming our newest Trustee and Assistant Trustee for the Quad Cities Region.


Ray an Jen Milem – Trustee


Ray and Jen have been into the saltwater hobby for at least 7.5 yrs. They have had a 10 gal system all the way up to a 220 gal. system - both glass and acrylic tanks.


They would like to make the hobby grow and expand in the Quad City Region. “There are a ton of reefing enthusiast in this area and we believe we need to pound the pavement and post, post, and post. And with the help of Matt Tillman I think we can make a change in this region. We have Coral Heaven and Aquatic Environments on our side to help us out as well.”


Ray and Jen currently have 4 tanks set up in their home: a frag tank, 40 gallon breeder, a 60 gal rimless tank, and a 180 gallon saltwater tank. “We are as what some say (multi-tank syndrome). We enjoy the challenges and the hobby.” They have only been in the club for a year, but don't plan on dropping out any time soon. They enjoy helping other reefers as well.





Matt Tillman – Assistant Trustee


Matt has been in the saltwater hobby for about a year and a half. Prior to that, he kept freshwater tanks. Currently he has a small nano reef and a 40 gallon hex tank. And he is in the process of building a 180 gallon tank which should be ready in the next month or two. “I'm really excited about my new big tank! I have only been a member of GIRS for a short period but I'm super excited to get some more activity going in this area with Ray and Jennifer!”


On a personal level Matt is married with three young children. “I specifically enjoy getting my children involved and teaching them as I learn.” Matt works for John Deere at the American Parts Distribution Center as a quality inspector. Matt and his wife also have several other pets that don't swim!
