I stopped into my local computer recycler company where I get all my PCs for work (replaced all PCs in my office earlier this year with quad core HP's for $200/ea) and found that they have about a dozen iMacs like this

    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/specs/imac-core-2-duo-2.66-20-inch-aluminum-early-2009-specs.html

most 2.0 GHz and a few 2.4 with one 2.6, all Core 2 Duo, 4GB ram, 250 GB HDD, DVD, Wifi, latest OS X Mavericks, etc.

    Priced at $275 each.

Been a long term PC user and never owned a Mac but for $275 I might just try this out.

Depends on what your doing it for really. To learn the os, there are cheaper deals on older Macs for sure. And a mac will always cost 100% more than they are worth. If you work with Linux at all then a mac UNIX-like will be no problem, terminal is terminal!
On the other hand if you want it for tooling around, email calendaring and a giant iPod then sure pull the trigger. Stick an sad in it for an extra hundred or so and you can get another 3-5 out of it.

Bud that's a great deal and I am a huge PC fan. Been working on them for a long time. You may also run windows on them because they have an intel CPU. I turned a small Dell NetBook from windows to Leopard and it runs it faster then windows ever ran on it.
Under 300 for a intel based iMac is a great deal and as for figuring them out interface wise you will figure it out. I did and now work in apple computers from time to time . I am no expert but get around ok and boot to windows when I feel the need.

It's not a terrible deal for a Mac. I found lots of working PCs with similar specs and even laptops from 2008-2010 for $75-$100. I do some PC repair on the side so I get these models to pull parts for testing and repair. The laptop I have now running my tank monitoring is one of these as well.
