Is an 800 gallon per hour pump too much?   Its one of the cheap ones I bought off amazon.  Seems it keeps my zoas closed.

how big of a tank? Try to aim it slightly different so the flow isn't hitting the zoas quite so directly.

    Shouldn't be too much, unless its pointed directly at the zoas.  I have a 75 gallon tank and have a Korallia 4 (1200 gal/hr) and a mod'd maxi jet 1200 (1600 - 2000 gal/hr) and don't have a problem.
