better late then never> I would like to point out that this thread is starting to go off topic. Lets try and get back on topic here and help Teri out.

Other then chappy I really have not seen any reason why not to join GIRS. Let me ask this. Before you decided to join what kept you from joining? What was the one thing that was holding you back?

The number one reason I have seen, especially lately, is that people don't know where the money is going. "Club sponsored events" is generally the answer, but I find that vague, even as a paying member. Don;t get me wrong, I have no problem paying, but I think that is a valid question that I have seen asked a few times now.

I did a break down of how funds were spent in 2010 at the last years business meeting.  If you attended, you would have seen it all laid out.  I'll provide an overview.  I'm going to start a thread in the club business thread as that's where that kind of detail belongs, but trust me, we do everything that we can to be responsible and frugal with the money that we have been entrusted to manage.  Basically, 68% of the income goes right back into tangible member benefits while about 32% is overhead.  More details in the thread listed below.

Here it is:  http://www.greateriowareefsociety.o...fault.aspx

At the business meeting this year, we'll go over numbers for 2011, and MACNA numbers.
