I told Kevin last weekend when I was in NYC at the Manhattan Reefs swap to keep that date open as we would probably be asking him to come in and speak. I can let him know for sure. |

Hey Bud, better bring sumps in various states of completion then we can all take one home
Actually I like the sump idea a lot. There are many schools of thought on what to put in a sump or refugium. I would like to learn more about what others do and why more than how to build one. |

Posted By mthomp on 12/02/2011 05:32 PM One thing I thought would be cool Matt was if we had a sump building demo and then raffled off the sump. It was something I considered for fall fest but was never got around to getting input for.
I like the idea of raffling off a sump. Maybe Bud can build one for the raffle and then explain what he did as a presentation. |

That's not a bad idea, I was planning on doing something, like having several builds in different stages and showing one step, then the next, etc. Possibly on 'miniature' scale, then raffle off a finished sump or something like that. I could also piece together a video on the build of the raffle sump.... |

If you did a video Bud, I would buy it for 5 or 10 bucks just to support the cause. Don't want you to do it for free. 10.00 bucks and you can donate 50% back to GIRS. Just a thought! |

I think Gary Parr would be awesome for sure, I love the NPS idea. Any ideas for a second person? Matt Pederson? I would also love to hear from a marine breeder, there's been a lot of news and recent developments recently to talk about. Koji Wada is a famous Japanese fish collector and he might make the trip to the states, he's got a lot of vendors in the area he supplies to. He sends a lot of stuff to us at the zoo and also is good friends with the owner of Nebraska Aquatic Supply in Omaha (Jim). He made a trip to check out Jim's store a few months ago. He's a little more difficult to understand from his accent though! hah Let's hear some other ideas! Also, like it's been asked, do we know a date/location yet? I'm heading to Cancun March 2nd-9th and want to plan off any other days I'll need soon! |
